Deals · Updated October 2026VPN Black Friday Deals 2026: how to spot a real one
- Oct 2026 — published with baseline prices; November deal verification in progress.
The short answer
No 2026 Black Friday deals are live yet — checked October 2026. Early-bird pricing typically appears in the first week of November, with the deepest discounts over Black Friday weekend (Nov 27–30, 2026).
Most Black Friday VPN “deals” are the everyday 2-year price wearing a costume. The way to judge a deal: compare it against the provider's price last month — and against the renewal price, which is where the real money is. Below are today's verified baseline prices; we flag genuine November drops here as they appear.
Today's baseline prices (what “deals” get measured against)
| VPN | Current 2-yr price | Renewal | What a real BF deal looks like | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | $3.49/mo | $139.08/yrRenews at $139.08/yr | 2-yr plan at or under ~$2.99/mo — anything less is banner math. | Get NordVPN — $3.49/mo |
| Surfshark | $2.49/mo | $79/yrRenews at $79/yr | Already the value king; a real deal adds months free, not a lower rate. | Get Surfshark — $2.49/mo |
| Proton VPN | $2.99/mo | $83.88/yrRenews at $83.88/yr | Plus plan under $2.49/mo would be historic — watch for it. | Get Proton VPN — $2.99/mo |
| ExpressVPN | $3.49/mo | $99.95/yrRenews at $99.95/yr | Rarely discounts deeply; extra months free is the real signal. | Get ExpressVPN — $3.49/mo |
| Private Internet Access | $2.03/mo | $79 / 3 yrsRenews at $79 per 3 yrs | Already $2.03/mo; BF usually means more bonus months at the same rate. | Get Private Internet Access — $2.03/mo |
Baselines checked October 2026. A “deal” only counts if it beats the baseline above — not the struck-through “was” price in the banner. Full reviews: NordVPN · Surfshark · Proton VPN · ExpressVPN · PIA.
How we judge a real deal (our 4-rule filter)
Beat the baseline
The November price must beat October's everyday 2-year price — not the inflated monthly rate.
Survive the renewal
A $2/mo deal that renews at $12/mo costs more over 4 years than a $3/mo deal renewing at $6. Do the 4-year math.
Money-back intact
Real deals keep the 30-day guarantee. If a promo waives it, walk away.
No bundle traps
Free password-manager trials bundled into “deals” auto-renew at full price. Check the fine print.
Should you skip Black Friday entirely?
Black Friday is for committing to two years at a cheap rate. If that doesn't match how you'll actually use a VPN, the deal isn't a deal — here's who should sit this one out:
- The pay-as-you-go crowd. Flat-rate providers like Mullvad (€5/month, no contracts, no sales ever) and IVPN (similar flat pricing) are built for turning a VPN on for a trip and off again. If you'd cancel a 2-year plan in month four, flat-rate was cheaper all along. Neither appears in our deal table — this is buyer advice, not a sales pitch.
- The casual user. If your VPN use is occasional hotel Wi-Fi or one trip a year, the VPN bundled with Google One Premium or Apple's iCloud Private Relay may already cover you. No separate subscription needed.
- The ecosystem buyer. Already in Proton's world (Mail, Drive)? Proton Unlimited's Black Friday pricing can beat buying the VPN alone — price the bundle against the standalone plan before you commit to either.
Two traps our baselines don't catch
1. The renewal you can't see
The most aggressive trick this year is a deeply discounted intro that renews at full retail — sometimes 6–10× the monthly rate. EU and California rules require the renewal price to be disclosed, but the disclosure is routinely buried at the bottom of the checkout flow. Before you buy, scroll to the price summary and find the renewal figure in writing, then set a calendar reminder a week before the auto-renew date. Riding sale cycles usually costs less over three years than autopaying full retail.
2. Buying twice by accident
Lock the deal, then immediately turn off auto-renewal. You keep the full discounted term — you just stop the provider from billing you at full retail when it ends. And if you're mid-subscription elsewhere, don't stack: overlap months are months you paid for twice.
